By awarding certificates to participants, the Second Citizens’ Assembly of Mostar was ceremonially closed on Sunday 18, 2024.
The topic of the second citizens’ assembly was „Tourists are staying in Mostar shortly and thus don’t bring significant profit to the City. How could we achieve that tourists stay longer in Mostar and therefore contribute to the economic development of Mostar?“
During the last session, Mario Kordić, Mayor of Mostar addressed the participants via video link, thereby expressing his satisfaction with the Second Citizens Assembly project as well as with recommendations defined by the citizens-assembly members. He also added that some of the preliminary recommendations are currentyl being implemented by the City of Mostar.
Upon the discussion with City Councilors on preliminary recommendations and after having analyzed comments and suggestions given by experts and stakeholders, the assembly members defined and voted 29 final recommendations that will be will be transmitted to the City Administration, Mayor and the City Council of Mostar.

The second Citizens’ Assembly was carried out with profesional and financial support by the Council of Europe within the project „Innovating democratic participation at local level in Bosnia and Hercegovina“, implemented by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022-2025.
