On 25 April 2023 and 10 May 2023 the third and fourth (the final) webinar on the topic How to organise Citizens’ Assembly were organised.
The emphasis of these webinars were on communication and media engagement, how to communicate about the citizens’ assembly (website, social media, etc..), facilitation, inclusion and member commitment.
Webinars are organised by the Council of Europe, and are intended for representatives of the City of Mostar and Banja Luka, as well as for the representatives of Sarajevo and Modriča. Cities Mostar and Banja Luka will be provided specific expert support by the Council of Europe Congress during this year, for the purpose of adopting new democratic approaches in order to organize Citizen’s Assemblies in the end of 2023. By commissioning the second Citizens’ Assembly, the City of Mostar will further enhance transparency and inclusion of citizens in local public affairs.
Citizens’ assemblies and similar deliberative processes such as citizens’ juries are becoming more and more popular across the world. From local to national level, citizens’ are becoming part of the decision-making process and are having the opportunity to engage in serious, informed discussions on many important policy issues.
