The City Council of Mostar unanimously adopts an Action Plan for the implementation of the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly

On 16 November 2021, the City Council of Mostar held its thirteenth regular session. The City Councillors dedicated the seventh item on the agenda to the discussion on the Action Plan for the implementation of the recommendations of the Citizens’ Assembly of Mostar, developed in July when  47 randomly selected citizens representing the demographic structure of the City of Mostar deliberated on the topic of cleanliness and maintenance of public spaces

These recommendations were presented to the City Council of Mostar, which recognised the importance of involving the citizens of Mostar in decision-making processes, and a working group composed of councillors, city services and representatives of the Citizens’ Assembly, appointed by the other members of the Assembly,  participated in the drafting of the Action Plan for the implementation of the recommendations. This plan implies the implementation of all 32 recommendations divided into 5 thematic areas, in terms of resources, activities to be implemented, competent authorities, indicators and time frames.

During the session, the City Council of Mostar unanimously adopted the amendments suggested by the representatives of the Citizens’ Assembly, and the conclusion on the adoption of the Action Plan. The Action Plan will be available on the “publications” section of the website, and you can watch a recording of the session in the Media-Video Gallery section.

This activity is realised in the framework of the project “Building democratic participation in the City of Mostar” implemented by the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities within the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2018-2021. The aim of the project is to create opportunities for citizens to engage in a deliberative process and increase their contribution to local decision-making. In turn, this process will foster dialogue at local level and contribute to the revitalisation of democratic processes in the City of Mostar.
